About the Trail
The Champlain trail system is a 60+ km system of trails through the forests and scrub of northern Renfrew County, with varied terrain and scenery. From gravel to mud, from higher dry ground to lakeside trails and many things in between, this system offers riders a mix of everything, including all four trail ratings.
The system is SxS friendly and has recently been complemented by an additional 20+ km of the Algonquin Trail between Petawawa and Chalk River.
Once the Algonquin Trail is fully open to the northern tip of the County, a further 70+ km of trail will take travellers to the County line in Cameron Township near Mattawa, running both alongside the Ottawa River, and into inland areas with many lakes and creeks.
